Oh.Em.Gee.

Blue Dot Donuts on Canal Street in New Orleans has done it.  They have brought the mapley-goodness to the South.  And in true Northwest fashion, they have added bacon.  It was “bar far” the best doughnut I have eaten since my arrival three years ago.  Blue Dot, located at 4301 Canal Street, open less than a year ago and their donut selection is very eclectic and delicious.  If you haven’t stopped by, you really should folks.  They have a peanut-butter-and-jelly ring donut (haven’t tried that yet, but I will) and a key-lime donut, traditional chocolate donuts, twist donuts, and you can even add ice cream to the donuts.  They open at 6 a.m. and generally close when the donuts run out so get there fast!

Oh Yes He Did Indeed!

Daddy’s Doughnuts Are Delicious!

Daddy’s Donuts, 2051 Caton Street in the Gentilly neighborhood, are something good.  They have a variety of different doughnuts.  No maple bar though.  Tough luck I guess. :(

Buttermilk Drop Bakery And Cafe Has Star Power!

This crazy little place in a not-so-good part of town has the doughnuts everyone is talking about.  After Katrina hit, a local favorite called the “buttermilk drop,” was extinct.   McKenzie’s, where “the drop” was famous, had gone out of business and no one made them quite like they did.  Until a little gem called Buttermilk Drop Bakery and Cafe was born.  Located at 1781 North Dorgenois St., the Buttermilk Drop is a must stop.

Sweet Savors Is Delish But Not My Savior.

Sweet Savors, located at 5242 Elysian Fields Avenue in New Orleans, is pretty good.  They only make glazed doughnuts though.  Very limited selection if you ask me.  They are also a bakery and serve some breakfast food.  So if you like goodies, such as petit fours, then this is your kind of place.

Travel And Leisure…Posers.

T&L have no idea.

Seriously though…are you really gonna leave the little people out? Granted I haven’t nearly the funds to travel around the USA and eat doughnuts. But if I did my list would be a lot longer. Just sayin’.

Obama Likes Doughnuts!

Top Pot Hand-Forged Doughnuts got a delightful surprise recently.  Obama! stopped in to pick up a few goodies.  Seriously though?  How cool is he?  I wonder what he got….

Pike Place Bakery Makes Maple Magic.

My beef Tasha recently took a trip to Seattle and, of course, in the heart of Seattle, WA is Pike Place Market.  Pike Place Bakery, at 1501 Pike Place, gets super creative with doughnuts.  Not VooDoo Crazy.  But creative and delicious.  Shown here are the goods:

Do you see this?  The Texas Maple Ring Doughnut!!! The Maple Cinnamon Pretzel Doughnut!!!??!?!?!?!!?!?!?!  Go THERE! YESTERDAY!

Long John Spotted In Baton Rouge.

That sneaky little maple bar has recruited some doughnut friends to try and trick me off it’s tail.  The Long John was spotted by Amie Calamari in Baton Rouge, Louisiana at Ambrosia Bakery on 8546 Seigen Lane.  This bakery sounds delicious.  If you check out their website you’ll see they also make cakes.  Yumyum.

She opted for the cinnamon roll instead :(

Doughnuts To Go.

Those wacky Japanese.  But also very brilliant.  This handy little doughnut briefcase keeps your individual doughnuts crush-proof.  Use on those days you’d prefer to be selfish and not share the goodness that are doughnuts with your co-workers or loved ones.  Unconventional doughnuts will not fit in this crazy invention, however, bagels will but let’s be honest…what moron eats bagels?

Thanks to Erin Edwards for showing me some magic.
